Baking Sheet Rack
A baking sheet rack is an important tool in the kitchen that can be used in cooking and baking. Also called an oven rack or a wire rack, it is placed inside the oven strategically depending on the notches inside the oven, providing different baking options. Baking and cookie sheets, muffin tins and pans, and cake pans are placed on top of the rack. It is often rectangular in shape, has different sizes, and is made from different materials.

You can create layers inside the oven with the use of baking sheet racks. Large items such as turkeys and chicken may use the lower racks, pizzas can be placed on the center racks, while bread may be placed on the top rack.
- Cool Baked Items
Baking sheet racks may be used as a cooling rack, which is ideal for letting the food or pastry to be cooled by allowing air to circulate freely, preventing the accumulation of oil on the bottom of the food and prevents the top from getting soggy from condensation.
- Dry Brining
Dry brining is a method in cooking turkeys. Dry brining seasons the turkey with dry ingredients and let the meat soak up the seasoning inside a refrigerator. A baking sheet rack will separate the seasoned meat from the juices.

Nonstick – A nonstick baking sheet rack is coated with a thin layer of Teflon. There is no need to use parchment paper when using a baking sheet rack made from Teflon, as the food will come off easily from the surface. This type of rack needs replacement as the coating wears off over time.
Aluminum – This is the most famous material used in racks, as it is thick, durable, and affordable. It heats up the food evenly and uniformly. When using aluminum racks, it is better to use a barrier between the food and the rack such as parchment paper.
Stainless Steel – This is durable and heavy-duty, and leaching of chemicals will not happen. It will resist rust and provides a shiny silver appearance due to the chromium and nickel content of the item.
Carbon Steel – This type of baking sheet rack is perfect for convection ovens, and for baking artisan breads and pizzas. It retains heat extremely well and is available in several thicknesses, including 1/4, 3/8, and even 1/2-inch thicknesses.
Ceramic – Ceramic sheet racks are uncommon, although it is not ceramic all the way through. A steel tray is covered with a smooth or textured surface, usually coated in nonstick ceramic.
Insulated – Insulated baking sheet racks are an ideal item as it can cook the food evenly on the top, bottom, sides, and center. It takes longer to cool down and should be cleaned by handwashing it and air dried to prevent damage.
