Dog of the Week: Peyton
This week’s dog of the week is Peyton, a 3-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Peyton is one year removed from her illustrious career in dog shows, and boasts the title of “Champion”. She spends her retirement exploring outside and going on long walks with her family. Peyton’s family breeds Corgis, so there are always dogs around for her to play with, but she prefers to roam alone or with her mother, Ever. She has now taken over the watchdog duties from Ever and most days you can find her perched at the top of the hill in her backyard on the step known as “Ever’s Landing” looking for anything she can chase. In addition to her life as a normal, free roaming dog, Peyton is also a mother. Her success in the show ring makes Peyton’s puppies bound for similar greatness, and last May she gave birth to 11 puppies. Upon their birth, Peyton changed from independent, adventurous dog to loving mother. She cleaned, fed, and played with her puppies until they were old enough to go to their own homes, but now Peyton has another litter on the way. She is hoping that there aren’t quite as many this time, but Peyton is looking forward to welcoming new members to her family. In conclusion, Peyton’s adventurousness, motherhood, and former stardom make her more than deserving of this week’s award.
