Many of us think the world of our dogs, and so it can be hard watching them grow older and start to falter. Dogs can experience a number of issues as they age, many of which are somewhat similar to those that we might experience ourselves as we reach older age. There are the vision problems, the grey hair, the cantankerous nature… But really what is most difficult to watch is the failure of the joints. Fortunately, there are things you can do to make life that bit easier for your older pooch. Of course, feeding them a diet that will help to combat inflammation and other issues will help. But what can also help is being there for them physically with a support harness.
A support harness is a harness that wraps around your dog’s mid-section and which has two handles. This might look a little like a harness you would put on a dog instead of a lead, but the difference is that it cradles your dog from underneath, rather than bracing around their chest. This is because you are going to be pulling them upwards, the idea being that you can help them whenever you see them start to struggle. This provides both physical and emotional support that can provide relief to your dog, whether they are small, medium, or large.
