Find the Perfect Dog House for Your Pup

Dog houses come in a range of sizes, designs, and materials, so we’ve put lots of time into finding the best dog houses on the market. If you are looking for a place your dog can call their own, read on for the DogGear team’s top dog house choices!

If you’re new to DogGear, you’ll first want to determine if your dog is small, medium, or large by our standards. We usually determine this by weight:

Our dog houses are broken down into three categories based on the size of dog they are meant for. Our selection of houses for small dogs is up first, and selections for medium and large dogs are further down the page. If none of these are quite what you’re looking for, try taking our quiz! It will only take about a minute and helps us recommend the best dog house option based on your dog’s needs.

Best Dog Houses

A good dog house will protect your dog from the elements and from other critters outside. Of all of these dog houses, my favorite is the Petmate Indigo one. It is well made and easy to put together. It’s also easy to clean and lasts a long time—an important piece of a good dog house. I like the high lip on the entrance because it helps keep out most bugs and things that want to crawl in the igloo. I added a dog bed and some hay inside to help my dog stay warm during the Colorado winters. One downside is when my dog was younger, he would chew on the side of the entrance making the edge very sharp.

DogGear Philosophy

So, you’re searching for the best dog house for your furry friend and don’t know where to start. Indoor dog house, outdoor dog house, or kennel, what are your requirements? Check out our brief guide for everything you need to know about choosing the perfect living quarters for your pet.

How to find the best dog house for your pup.

If you are a pet parent, there’s no doubt that you go out of your way to provide your pup with the very best of care; after all, he’s more than just a pet – he’s a member of your family! While you probably have tons of products for your pooch, there’s one item that might be missing on your list of essential pet supplies: a dog house.

Why should you consider investing in a dog house? Here’s a look at some of the benefits that a high-quality dog house will offer both your four-legged family member and you.

  • Increased comfort. If your pup tends to spend a lot of time outside – whether it’s because you want to make sure that he isn’t cooped up in the house all day while you’re at work or because he just loves to explore the great outdoors – a dog house is an absolute must! He’ll have a space that is all his own that he can easily access and leave as he pleases, which will most certainly increase his comfort when he’s outside.
  • Protection. A dog house will offer your pup protection from the elements. For example, on a hot summer day, a dog house can provide the shade that he needs to cool off; on a rainy day, his dog house will keep him warm and dry; and on a cold, snowy day, he’ll be able to stay nice and warm. In other words, a dog house will offer your furry friend the protection that he needs when he’s outside, which is extremely important for his health and his well-being.
  • A sense of pride. Believe it or not, a dog house can actually instill a sense of pride in your pooch. Canines are a lot like humans in a lot of ways; and just like humans, dogs feel proud when they have a space that is all their own. By offering your pup a dog house, you’ll make him feel proud and confident, which can do wonders for his well-being.
  • Peace of mind. Not only will a dog house benefit your pup, but it will also benefit you! You’ll have peace of mind knowing that your four-legged family member is protected from the elements and has a comfortable space that he can retreat to when he spends a lot of time in the great outdoors (even if it’s just in your small backyard!).
