Dog of the Week: Ella

This week’s dog of the week is Ella
, a 7-year old Field Spaniel from Cleveland, Ohio. Ella is entering her middle age but has never lost the puppy in her. She is a morning dog, much to the chagrin of her owners. Every morning at around 5:30 Ella is up and ready for the day, and she demands nothing less of her family. After rousing a human for breakfast, Ella takes to the outdoors to go on her morning patrol of her yard. Ella’s constant monitoring of her property begins here and continues throughout the day, as she can be found moving around the house from window to window looking for intruders and regularly going outside to guard the grounds on foot. She hasn’t caught any trespassers yet, but Ella is certain that her surveillance is the only thing keeping everyone inside safe. Other than her watchdog duties, Ella loves hikes. She walks around her neighborhood or to a nearby schoolground on the weekdays, and on the weekends takes to the trails of Cuyahoga National Park. One thing that anyone who walks with Ella needs to keep in mind is that she is the leader. If anyone is to pass her, Ella will begin a frantic rush to the front to ensure she is the first to the destination. Other than her work and exercise, Ella is also quite sweet and has no lack of personal space. She enjoys sticking her nose in any face she can reach to get as much attention as possible and loves being a lapdog although she is pushing 35 pounds. In conclusion, Ella’s sense of duty, competitive nature, and soft side make her the easy choice for dog of the week.
