A large dog requires a leash that can accommodate its size. Ideally, 20-foot leashes are some of the largest, and are perfect for dogs of equal size, allowing them the space they need to explore during walks while still giving you ample control.
Denise, a dog expert, remarked, “When I shop for new leashes, I consider how durable it will be for my needs, especially if the dog I’m walking pulls at the lead or likes to chew on it. How comfortable it feels to hold is also important.”

pros and cons
Lightweight but Heavy-Duty
Hi Kiss Dog/Puppy Obedience Recall Training Agility Lead - 15ft 20ft 30ft 50ft 100ft Training Leash - Great for Training, Play, Camping, or Backyard
Designed exclusively for outdoor activities, the dog leash is made from reinforced nylon and meant for medium to large dogs. Its attached snap swivels to prevent twisting.
Pros and cons
While this leash may seem too lightweight at first glance, it is incredibly sturdy. We were able to walk even our largest dogs and have the leash hold up well to every pull and tug. However, we found that some of the shades are too light, making it stain easily in wet weather environments.
Incredibly Easy to Hold
Shorven Nylon Strong Dog Rope Lead Reflective Training Dog Leash with Soft Handle 8-20 FT Long
This leash from Viper is unique in that it’s made from biothane, which limits the development of odors while remaining waterproof and flexible. Also features rust-free brass hardware.
Pros and cons
This biothane leash from Viper proved to be quite sturdy when walking larger dogs. It’s also easy to hold and clean; for the latter task, all you need is to wipe it down. However, this leash also has a heavy feel that can make it feel clumsy to use at times.
